Report: Patriots reuniting with QB Brissett
The New England Patriots are reuniting with Jacoby Brissett, reports ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
The veteran quarterback agreed to a one-year deal worth $8 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Brissett, who the Patriots drafted in the third round in 2016, spent the 2023 season on the Washington Commanders. He's also had stints with the Indianapolis Colts (2017-20), Miami Dolphins (2021), and Cleveland Browns (2022).
The 31-year-old, who has 48 NFL starts under his belt, didn't start any games last season while serving as Sam Howell's backup.
The Patriots are revamping their quarterback depth chart after a disappointing 2023 campaign. They recently traded Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars and currently roster Bailey Zappe and Nathan Rourke. Zappe started six games last year.
New England is also expected to select a quarterback with the No. 3 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The AFC East club kicked off a new era in 2024 after parting ways with legendary head coach Bill Belichick and hiring Jerod Mayo as his replacement.
