Gimp not detecting scanner
by rnturn from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6KM0F)
Normally, Gimp sees one's xsane scanner via the File->Create menu. I have an Epson Perfection 2400 Photo that's worked with Gimp+Xsane for years. After installing Bookworm, this isn't working.
I've checked to see that the symlink to xsane is in the correct location -- $HOME/.config/GIMP/2.10/plug-ins (I had to create this by hand) -- but Gimp isn't detecting it. Now... while I can scan with xsane, it appears that the only means of getting a scan into Gimp is to save it to disk first and then drag-n-drop--not exactly the productive work flow one expected.
This appears to be a previously known problem that all solutions seem to indicate are the missing symlink. Except that didn't work... or I've linked in the wrong place for Gimp to see it.
What's missing between these two pieces of software? Another bit of software perhaps?
Any help will be enthusiastically welcomed.
TIA...
