Report: Pats, Dugger agree to 4-year, $58M deal

The New England Patriots are signing safety Kyle Dugger to a four-year, $58-million contract, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Dugger's deal could rise to $66 million, and it includes $32.5 million guaranteed, Rapoport adds.

The Patriots placed the transition tag on Dugger in March. The tag allowed him to negotiate with other teams while providing New England the opportunity to match any contract offered to the safety.

"Kyle is a talented player with a strong work ethic who has improved every year and been extremely productive since joining our team in 2020," head coach Jerod Mayo said after the team tagged Dugger.

"We value players with high character and chose to use the transition designation to give both sides more time to try to reach a long-term agreement, which is our goal with Kyle."

The 28-year-old has been a key player for New England's defense since entering the league as a second-round pick. He's a versatile player, racking up at least 150 snaps at slot corner, free safety, and as a box safety in 2023, per PFF.

Dugger has 343 tackles, 20 passes defended, and nine interceptions in 61 career games.
