Explanation of default system groups

When one installs a new system, /etc/group has a bunch of system groups in it - some seem obvious, others less so, but I was hoping for a canonical explanation of what/why/etc for each of them.

So far, the only attempt at documentation I've found is this mediocre page in Debian's wiki: //wiki.debian.org/SystemGroups

Does anyone know of any others?

Ok, so LQ's "find similar threads" told me lots of others have asked the same question, but only one of those threads pointed at documentation: //wiki.archlinux.org/title/Users_and_Groups#Group_list

Not sure why my searches didn't reveal that. It does have further information, but is also still lacking plenty.

So, does anyone happen to know of any more such resources?

(Especially if they give real explanations for now obsolete groups, not just writing "historical" and nothing else.)
