The Philadelphia Eagles signed free-agent tight end C.J. Uzomah to a one-year deal, the team announced Thursday.

Uzomah spent the first seven years of his NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals after they selected him in the fifth round of the 2015 draft. He produced 192 catches for 1,881 yards and 16 touchdowns with the Bengals.

The veteran joined the New York Jets in 2022 after racking up career highs in catches (49), yards (493), and touchdown receptions (five) the year before. But Uzomah struggled to establish himself in New York's offense, earning 232 yards in his first season and just 58 yards in 2023.

Uzomah will act as depth behind standout tight end Dallas Goedert. After Jack Stoll signed with the New York Giants in free agency, Philadelphia needed to bolster its depth chart, which also contains Grant Calcaterra, Albert Okwuegbunam, and Noah Togiai.
