Adams: Raiders' 'competitive nature' stronger than Packers had
Star receiver Davante Adams gave high marks to the Las Vegas Raiders' compete level two years after joining from the Green Bay Packers.
"One thing I'll say about the Raiders is that the moment I stepped into the building, it was way more competitive than we were in Green Bay," Adams said on the latest episode of "The Rush with Maxx Crosby."
"In Green Bay it was - we had great teams and we found a way to win. But when you talk about the competitive nature (with the Raiders), there's a lot more guys that have the same mentality as Jaire (Alexander) had."
Adams rose to prominence over eight seasons with the Packers. Alongside quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay enjoyed regular-season success and made four trips to the NFC Championship Game during his tenure.
The six-time Pro Bowler is set to enter his third season with the Raiders after being acquired in a March 2022 trade from Green Bay. He remains second on the Packers' all-time receiving touchdowns list (73).
Adams has taken a leadership role on and off the field since landing in Las Vegas. The three-time All-Pro posted at least 1,100 yards and 100 receptions in each season since 2020. He led the Raiders with 103 catches, 1,144 yards, and eight touchdowns last season.
Adams is eager to take the field under new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, who served as an assistant on the Packers' coaching staff from 2014-2021. The Raiders are aiming to improve an offensive unit that finished 23rd in the league with 198.8 passing yards per contest in 2023.
"I don't have expectations, but I do have a standard that we got to live up to regardless," Adams said when asked about his outlook on the upcoming season.
While the Raiders will have several holdovers from a roster that posted an 8-9 record, there will be plenty of new faces around the facility. Gardner Minshew, Christian Wilkins, and first-round pick Brock Bowers are among the newcomers who will be counted on in Antonio Pierce's first full season as head coach.
