Cowboys' Cooks: Lamb deserves to be NFL's top-paid WR
CeeDee Lamb is one of several Dallas Cowboys stars in line for a major payday this offseason, and Brandin Cooks said his teammate should break the bank with his new contract.
"The guy is a freak," Cooks said Wednesday. "He deserves everything that is coming his way, and I hope he gets every single dollar that he can and (that he becomes) the highest-paid receiver in the league because he's the greatest receiver in the league. No doubt."
Lamb, quarterback Dak Prescott, and pass-rusher Micah Parsons are all eyeing new deals ahead of the 2024 campaign, but Dallas has yet to lock down any of the trio.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said in late April the team would "like to see more action" regarding long-term deals for Lamb, Prescott, and Parsons.
Lamb has watched a host of other top receivers get extensions this offseason.
Detroit Lions standout Amon-Ra St. Brown reset the wideout market with a four-year deal worth over $120 million before quickly getting topped by Philadelphia Eagles star A.J. Brown's three-year, $96-million extension. DeVonta Smith, drafted a year after Lamb, also received a three-year pact worth $75 million from Philadelphia.
Entering the final year of his rookie deal and set to earn $17.99 million, Lamb reportedly isn't expected to attend any of Dallas' voluntary offseason activities without a new deal.
The 25-year-old set new Cowboys single-season records in 2023 with an NFL-high 135 catches. He also had the second-most yards in the league (1,749) and the third-most touchdown receptions (12).
