The Detroit Lions are signing quarterback Jared Goff to a four-year, $212-million extension that includes $170 million guaranteed, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter, citing sources.

Goff is now signed through 2027, and his contract includes an option for 2028, a source told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The reported deal makes Goff the highest-paid player in Lions history. The 29-year-old's new $53-million average annual salary now ranks second among quarterbacks behind only Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals ($55 million).

Goff helped turn Detroit into an NFC contender after the Lions acquired him as part of the Matthew Stafford trade in 2021. The three-time Pro Bowler posted a career single-season high 67.3% completion rate in 2023 to go along with 4,575 yards and 30 touchdowns against 12 interceptions.

The 2016 No. 1 overall pick has passed for 78 touchdowns and 27 interceptions in 48 starts with the Lions, who won their first-ever NFC North title with a 12-5 record last year and reached the conference title game.

Goff's contract is the latest lucrative long-term deal in what's been a busy offseason for the Lions. Detroit recently rewarded wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown with a four-year, $120-million extension and offensive tackle Penei Sewell with a four-year deal worth $112 million.
