Replace Gnome terminal?
by linnymint from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6N4BH)
Anybody know of a replacement for the Gnome terminal? Something with the same appearance (red error message and blue or green user label) that can be configured (in preferences maybe) to output (as soon as the terminal opens) to a file type that retains the terminal's text formatting, so that the formatted text will display in the LMDE forum (using the code tags) just as the formatting in the terminal displays.
I know that selected text can be copied with or without hypertext formatting, but would the clipboard be able to handle the entire content of the update process? I've tried a small test, but either way produced tags that are different from the tags supported in between the code tags in the forum.
Short of replacing Gnome terminal, if I am able to capture the entire terminal output and paste into a document file, which would be the best alternative for the forum: A LibreOffice document as an attachment (zipped maybe); or edit the html tags in a text file to match the forum's format and paste between the code tags?
