Realtek RTL8188EE Fails On Multiple Debian Derivatives

Hello! The Realtek RTL8188EE wifi adapter in my HP laptop (Debian Bookworm) will work intermittently for minutes or hours, then fail completely. Nothing I try on the command line will resurrect it -- only a hard restart might do it, but usually not. This will occur even when booting from a live Debian 12 ISO via Ventoy, as well as other Debian-based OS's. Might be related to TX power -- logs suggest multiple retries before failure. Forums suggest configuring the rtl8188ee kernel module to use antenna 2, but there does not seem to be a parameter for doing so in modinfo. Thanks!
