my messages disappearing from Thunderbird's conversation view after a few seconds

Hey,
in theory I like Thunderbird's conversation view, but I can't use it.
I right click on some message and select "view in conversation," then a new tab with the conversation in a tree view opens. But after a few seconds, all messages I wrote disappear from this view, making it useless.
I realize this is not a Slackware problem, but a Thunderbird one. But I don't have the energy to find the right Tb support forum, make an account there etc. right now. I have searched in Startpage and in this forum and didn't find anything relevant.
I'm just asking, if you're using Thunderbird, can you try this functionality and see if it works for you?
context: I run an up-to-date Slackware64 15.0 with the Plasma/Wayland GUI.
