is it a bad idea to export my old fstab to a newly installed distro?

I'm trying a new distro, still in the Debian family. I could just edit the new fstab to my liking (in ways such as instructing it to auto-mount this and that partition), but since nothing has changed--the computer, the hard drives, my needs, the distro family, etc.--is there any reason I should not just export my fstab from the old distro to the new distro? I think I've done it before, but that might have been only a new installation of the same distro on the same computer.
