TW fails to start graphical environment / ATI Radeon Express 1250
by SuSE_Lamer from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6NDA2)
Hello,
I have one question about openSuse TW: I installed it from self-made DVD (from May 2021). Installation ran smoothly, but at the end I got an error message "Cannot execute /sbin/mkinitd" (or something like this), and now following happens: laptop boots, but it does not start graphical server (I have chosen XFCE) - just cursor line blinks at the top level corner.
I would like to fix the issue, but I do not know where I should start. "Recovery mode" boots properly, and then when I press CTRL-D, the same situation happens. When I enter administrator password, I remain in text mode.
Laptop is Samsung R400 with ATI Radeon Express 1250 (RS600M)
Google search showed me that this issue happened to others too, but I could not identify the solution for my problem. I would appreciate any hint or help.
Regards from Hamburg / Germany
