Patriots' Brissett: Maye progressing 'tremendously'
Quarterback Jacoby Brissett is impressed with rookie teammate Drake Maye's progress as the New England Patriots continue their offseason program.
"Oh, definitely. Tremendously. Every day he's getting better," Brissett said Monday, according to Mark Daniels of MassLive. "The good thing about it is it's not like, 'Oh, I got it right now.' He's just constantly trying to find ways to get better. Making some nice throws out there, and you're seeing his progression come alive."
Leading the second team during Monday's opening mandatory minicamp practice, the No. 3 pick wowed onlookers.

This has been his best practice, so far. He went 3/3 with three TDs in the last 7v7 period. Impressive day for the rookie
Brissett, who rejoined the Patriots in March on a one-year deal, said Maye is quickly picking up the smaller details of being an NFL quarterback.
"He's been here for three-and-a-half weeks, a month, and he's made tremendous strides," Brissett said of Maye. "Not only calling the plays, but footwork, throwing the ball, and his overall understanding of the offense."
Brissett is the favorite to start for the Patriots when the 2024 season begins, but Maye could make a tough decision for New England if he continues to develop.
Maye starred at North Carolina in college but only started two seasons before making the leap to the pros. The young passer also saw his production dip in 2023, leading some to suggest he should sit to begin his NFL career.
