TF2 (game) starts stuttering after ~30 mins

I'm on Fedora / KDE / Wayland.
I have tested this on Gnome / Wayland too.
The Team Fortress 2 game on Steam runs fine for about 20-30 minutes then starts stuttering madly (as if it were 10 frames per second).
I don't see any coincident errors in the developer console.
Any thoughts on how this can be fixed? Thanks
