Laptop screen keeps going to 'sleep' while installing

Hello everyone!
I'm a linux noob and have been experimenting with ubuntu for a couple of weeks on my PC and now I wanted to install it on my laptop. While booting everything went fine but then when I tried installing ubuntu whilst going through the steps the screen kept going black and I had to press enter or click the touchpad for it to come back and then disappear after 5s again.
Any help? Greatly appreciated!
latop: Samsung galaxy book 2; i7 12th gen; I'd like either ubuntu or kubuntu.
