Can't mount encrypted zfs file system - error mounting rpool: unknown filesystem type zfs_member udisks-error-quark,0

Hi I am an Ubuntu user and would like to mount an external hard drive with an encrypted zfs file system so I can recover some folders but keep getting the error message 'error mounting /dev/sda5 at media/john/rpool: unknown filesystem type zfs_member udisks-error-quark,0'

Looks like this is a bug and it thinks the file system is corrupted. Zfsutils is installed. Thanks for any suggestions.
