Nfs & shutdown.

Some time back I got the pico how-top on NFS - setting up /etc/exports, fstab edits, starting rc.rpc & rc.nfsd, manual mounts just in case. I have that running here now.

Now I want the pico-howto on shutting it down. One box is client only, two are exporting partitions. All mount all nfs partitions. All three can have humungous delays in shutting down. What's the kosher order for shutdown, pls, and I'll make it happen here - e v e n t u a l l y. The client seems the slowest of all. All machines running various ~Current versions reliably. The usual symptom is I get kicked from X & all consoles, I get a shutdown message, but shut down the box does not. I can open a new terminal, log in as root, and type '/sbin/shutdown -h now' and then it goes, but that's ungainly.
