Nextar MP3 player
by RandomTroll from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6NRV1)
I bought a Nextar MA933 (so the box says; the vendor on eBay
identified it as a Nextar MA566) MP3 player. It's 10 cm long, 3
wide, 2 thick. It uses a single AAA battery. (A previous
purchase had a built-in lithium battery that, because it was so
old, wouldn't take a charge. I go on trips often longer than a
battery-life (I use rechargeables.), so I prefer replaceable
batteries.) It has 1GB storage. It has 3 buttons: 1 on/off, 1
for volume, 1 for changing mode and moving between and inside of
tracks. It was manufactured 2009 August, so a sticker says. The
AAA battery it came with had leaked, coating it with electrolyte,
but not damaging it. I've had it for 2 months, and it's worked
well, as well as its predecessor from Coby and better than all its
other predecessors. My only gripes are that sometimes it loses
its place when the battery dies, and that Windoze computers see it
as an audio player, not a USB drive, so I can't use it as one.
There used to be a lot of these. As near as I can tell only
Agptek makes new units; I prefer this. The Agptek has a single
button for all functions, which fails soon; most others have a
single button.
I go on long walks, bicycle rides, and gym workouts. I want a
player that fits in a breast pocket. The batteries of
'smart'phones run out far sooner. As I need mine to open the gate
at my community, I don't use it for this.
