Python Tarball Missing from chroot Environment

Hello everyone. I have spent the last two days on my very first attempt at doing linux from scratch and so far everything has flowed pretty smoothly. I've run into a bit of a hiccup at chapter 7.10.1 (Python). For whatever reason the Python tarball placed at /lfs/sources isn't showing up at /sources in my chroot environment with all the other tarballs. I have already tried extracting the package as a user on the host system from a separate terminal window, but the resulting directory doesn't show up in my chroot environment either. Everything else is there, including the python-docs-html tarball, so I'm really confused. Has anyone run into this before?
