Have a HP Pavilion Elite HPE 6 core AMD machine. Got a new power supply and bought a gtx 1660 super GPU. Am running Debian Buster. Yeah, it is old. But upgrading is getting to be a pain. Afraid to skip to Bookworm as even elemental upgrades break stuff. Have Nvidia 418.226.000. nvidia-detect saysQuote:
But is works, sort of. Doesn't want to bring up display manager on boot. seems like might be xserver taking too long to start, perhaps some some issue with xorg event drivers. Sometimes the vt consoles are spewing a bunch of stuff like there is a stuck keyboard or something. I have to unplug and replug the hid wireless keyboard/mouse. Tried to upgrade video drivers to Bullseye but that didn't seem to solve anything. The computer was, for no known reason, putting itself into sleep mode. Downgraded them back to Buster.
Checking card: NVIDIA Corporation Device 21c4 (rev a1) Uh oh. Your card is not supported by any driver version up to 418.226.00. A newer driver may add support for your card. Newer driver releases may be available in backports, unstable or experimental. |
