Grub error "452: out of range pointer"

Greeting all,

Grub is giving me an error when trying to launch LMDE 6;

"452: out of range pointer"

So far, I've been able to boot successfully using one of the Grub entries marked "system recovery" or for an older kernel.

Any idea how to fix my Grub so it behaves as expected?

I recently did a fresh install of LMDE 6 with manual partitioning, so I could use a pre-existing primary partition for /, and my existing data partition for /home. The system has been fully updated with apt update/upgrade. There seems to be some variation in which Grub entries will successfully boot, but I can't rule out that changes were the result of the software upgrades. Indeed, I'm pretty sure some of them were.

Can anyone help me understand why this is happening and what I can do about it?
