Newbie, obviously

Hi there,
in fact I am not really a newbie where it concerns using Linux OS because I left Windows in 2006 when I realized the world was bigger than Microsoft and/or Apple-Macintosh.
I started using Ubuntu, the "normal" brew as well as xfce and jumped onto the Mint wagon once I had discovered it.
I tried a few other OS's but always kept returning to Mint; don't ask me why because I probably wouldn't be able to answer that question. It seems to me that it was basically something irrational and mainly emotional.
Anyway, the point is that my choice of discarding Microsoft/Apple-Mac also was a non-rational decision, that one being more a question of principles: I find the way those big tech companies are taking advantage of the average user really disgusting, if not criminal at least.
On the other hand, of course, using Linux oriented OS's is from time to time quite confronting because of the fact that a majority of users are fairly schooled in digital processing.
For me it still remains a mesmerizing world of scribbling and using fairly incomprehensible groups of letters, figures and numbers.
Not that I would be stupid or so, but I have reached the age of 70 and my learning abilities are, partly caused by a chronic nerve disease, no longer what they used to be.
But I count myself blessed with the knowledge that there is something like a Linux Community, packed with people willing to lend a helping hand to sods like myself.
I hope I will not put too much of a burden upon you all, I still am trying to learn and will only visit to pose questions after not having found a solution otherwise.
And from here on I wish you all a good health and a happy life, now and in the future.
