I think this might be of interest to some here, who like tinkering around with new stuff. And, yes, this is something new, for sure, so I'll mention this here in addition to my usual announcement on alt.os.linux.slackware.

vera is a PID 1 supervisor (/sbin/init) that uses kernel control groups (lightweight containers, cgroups version 2 API). It is capable of booting and shutting down a stock installation of Slackware 15. Each started subsystem (ntpd, sshd, apache, et. al.) gets started in its own container. There's an orderly process for converting from sysvinit to vera. There's also an orderly process for reverting back, and putting things where they were before. And there's a precompiled Slackware64 vera package:

vera was my pandemic project. It kept me busy while the world was spinning on its side. Things are back to normal now, so I've been eating my own dogfood and running (and updating) Slackware on vera for some time, and I've pretty much ran out of dogfood, so, there you go: release 1.0.
