Ubuntu not bootable after upgrade from 20.04 to 22.04
by dr_berta from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6PBC0)
HI,
Yesterday I updated my Ubuntu 20.04 to Ubuntu 22.04. After the update the system worked fine, but on the first reboot I get a black screen without even a flashing underscore. I rebooted the system into recovery mode and to my surprise I saw the message:
Code:ALERT! UUID=f439a3.... does not exist. dropping to a shell!I used a 24.04 live distro to check the disks and that raid disk is seen with the correct UUID. In the fstab the disk is identified not with the UUID but with the name assigned to the raid: /dev/mapper/isw_dbejijbhc_Volume0p1.
I tried reinstalling grub hoping that would fix the problem.
He actually created another one. To update the grub I used da live from 24.04 and I used boot-repair. Now I no longer enter recovery mode with the message shown above, but I have the following grub error:
Code:error: symbol 'grub_file_filters' not found.
grub rescue>I used gParted to check the disk filesystem and it's fine.
I tried boot-repair a couple more times but to no avail. The only thing it tells me is that the files in the /boot folder are far from the beginning of the disk and that grub might not see them.
How can I solve the problem? Do I need to make a boot partition?
Thank you
Claudio
