Cinnamon desktop shudown reverting to lightdm login

I recently updated my Arch distro only to find it upon shutdown my Cinnamon window manager now reverts to the lightdm login screen. Essentially its as if I logged out rather than shut down.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a work around?
