The Nest Doorbell is Google's latest wireless and wifi smart video doorbell, and it just hit its lowest price it has been since its release, according to price-checking tools. You can get the Battery Nest Doorbell for $109.99 (originally $179.99), which gives you the option to be wired or wireless.

Having the choice of being wired or wireless is ideal. If you're renting, you can use the battery, which requires minimal installation, making it easy to pick up and take it with you on your next move. If you own your home, you can wire it to your doorbell so you don't have to worry about replacing the battery. According to PCMag's "good" review, the battery lasts up to six months, depending on how many times the doorbell notifications get triggered (you can customize your sensitivity on the settings). Since the Nest Doorbell can distinguish people, animals, packages, and vehicles, it can make the battery last longer and spare your sanity by reducing the motion notifications you're not concerned about.

The Nest Doorbell can connect with Bluetooth and wifi, has a field view of 145 degrees, a 960p resolution, two-way audio, night vision, and cloud storage. There is no option to sound an alarm and it doesn't tilt or pan. Like all Google smart devices, you'll be able to connect to the Google Assistant ecosystem, but don't expect to connect to Alexa, HomeKit, or IFTTT.

Keep in mind that if you choose to use the battery instead of the wire option, the doorbell won't work with your existing chime, since that requires connecting wires. Google allows you to see the last three hours of recorded video for free, but if you want to see anything before that, you'll have to subscribe to a Nest Aware plan, which starts at $8 a month.

If you're looking for a wired video doorbell that doesn't charge a monthly subscription to view any of your videos, I recommend the Reolink Doorbell WiFi Camera.
