New install of Slackware64-current (15.1), No keyboard or mouse in graphical login window

New install of days-old -current64 (15.1) into a VirtualBox virtual machine:
Tested XFCE starting it with 'startx'. Everything is fine...
I changed the runlevel from 3 to 4 in /etc/inittab, rebooted, and a nice new login window appeared. Keyboard and mouse are completely unresponsive though! Only way I could exit was to stop the VM.
I found a reference to adding 'iommu=soft' to the boot parameters, to no avail. (Didn't have high hopes, as that was, if I understand correctly, to solve a problem with (AMD?) hardware.
Any suggestions?
