As rotting algae at Hamilton park 'smells like crap,' city tasked with preventing it next year

Blue-green algae - a toxic bacteria that can cause severe skin irritations, vomiting and diarrhea - bloomed in Hamilton Harbour in July. Now it's taken over many shallower areas of the waterfront, the smell deterring residents from enjoying Bayfront Park.
