Problem Using Images in Suckless Sent

I have a 25 year old IBM ThinkPad 600X running antiX 23.1. I installed sent from suckless.org to use as an ultra lightweight presentation program. It works just fine with text, but if i try to insert a picture I keep getting the error message Display color depths < 24 not supported.
What does this mean, and how can I get around it so that I can use pictures in sent?
