Remmina?
by TLinux from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6QAH3)
Just checked https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compar...sktop_software for connection software I can use to develop a small (20 source files so far) Windows application from Linux.
Last week I hit the sensible limits of wine.
I just connected my Windows laptop to my Linux desktop with a cable.
I was thinking VNC protocol, but why not RDP? Why not Remmina?
I do not need any security or compression. My application is not currently networked.
I have been using Windows gdbserver.exe anyway, under wine. From a mix of Codium / Native Debug and vi / gdb. Maybe we can start another thread later about why Codium is good or bad, that is only tangentially relevant to this.
4 weeks ago I was setting up a Linux development environment for other more Linux-y things, my current Windows program was just to get that going with something simple. So, it's got to be Linux. 2 weeks ago I realized I might make some $ if my Windows program was good, so I have been pushing it more than originally intended. Yet, my development system still has got to be Linux. Lots of reasons.
Remmina?
I never heard of it until about an hour ago. I did some quick googles and checked their webpage. Looks good. I am about to install it on debian. Anybody else use it a lot? Slow, buggy, anything?
LQ has Remmina threads. Recent ones about other situations, like connecting to Linux, not connecting from Linux to Windows. Cool it can do that; I see it also supports VNC/RFB. Yet, any hints connecting Linux to Windows? Thank you, LQ folks.
ME: debian stable (bookworm), latest updates. Codium, latest updates, not nightlies. Windows 10.
