Home Network IPs Problem
by business_kid from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6QCN0)
I'm replacing my old ISP for one that provides a faster, cheaper service. So far so good.
There's just one huge drawback: I can't fix IPs on the new, sucky ZTE router. So my networked printer which had a fixed IP, nfs, ssh & scp & friends can't all be set with stable IPs. There's three boxes of concern: My RazPi, which runs 24/7; My own box, which usually spends some time on most days. And my laptop which I sometimes wake up if I need it.
Now, dhcp leases are 86400 seconds = 24 hours. If I could add a zero to that figure, that would get me 10 days, which would probably look after my own box most of the time. Is there any elegant option? Ideally one that lets me fix the IP? The ZTE setup is pretty primitive.
