Boot loaders under efi - elilo & grub

I tried restoring a backup here, but things didn't goo too well, and I have a few insane faults. Slackware won't boot. But if I press F11 and get the boot menu up and select Slackware, it boots fine, and the modules load and all goes well. I'm using a simple elilo - no options, no delay. I tried re-running eliloconfig, but no dice. Boot menu just calls vmlinuz; that's it. I'm probably going to reinstall, as it's current. But what should I have done?
I'm just very curious

I am locked out of AntiX<yawn>. I have one efi partition on the nvme, and another on /dev/sda2. I get this large type grub menu and an unresponsive keyboard when I choose that option. Antix has never really been visible. Antix replaced Devuan, which had replaced Debian. Both Devuan and Antix had this odd way of booting: I'd select Debian after pressing F11, and I'd get Antix's boot menu in grub in miniscule writing. I'd press return again, and it would boot. I intended to post grub.cfg, but it's 285 lines!

Do I have to change the Antix entry to the nvme, or can I leave it where it is? Presuming I delete the Debian entry, can I add Antix? Why is invisible anyhow?
