Conservative motion to strike down plan is defeated after sometimes bad-tempered Commons debate
MPs have voted to remove the winter fuel allowance from all but the poorest pensioners, a plan that has been criticised by opposition parties and prompted disquiet among many Labour MPs.
After a sometimes bad-tempered Commons debate, a Conservative motion to strike down the move was defeated by 348 votes to 228.
