Is it safe to have lxc containers on your Daily river

I'm considering setting up lxc containers on my Daily driver Work Station so that I can help test Slackware current and play around with different services without having to nuke and pave my whole system Is this a recommended practice or should I consider resurrecting a dead dell workstation that I've got on my couch? my couch?
