Help needed with audio equalizer

I am an old man (95) with high-frequency hearing loss. With Windows I was able to compensate for this with a graphic equalizer app. Then I could use my computer as a telephone, and do Skype and Zoom etc.. But with Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon, installing a simple equalizer seems absurdly complicated, if possible at all. Pipewire seems well beyond my needs (and beyond my comprehension.)

I suspect that I am asking for more help than is usually available here. So don't feel too bad if you don't step up.
