Title: InScript Hindi Typing Issue on Multiple Linux Distributions - Keys 4 to 9 Not Functioning Properly
by vivekkrgupta111 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6R1HN)
Description:
I have encountered an issue with the InScript Hindi keyboard layout across multiple Linux distributions, including Ubuntu 24.04, Debian, Kubuntu, and Arch Linux. The specific problem is that the keys 4 to 9 are not functioning properly. These keys are essential for typing certain symbols like ',' but they either do not respond or produce incorrect output.
Steps to Reproduce:
Set up the InScript Hindi keyboard layout on any of the mentioned distributions.
Attempt to type symbols using numeric keys 4 to 9.
Observe that the keys do not produce the correct symbols (e.g., '').
Expected Behavior:
The keys 4 to 9 should generate their respective symbols according to the InScript Hindi layout.
Observed Behavior:
No output or incorrect characters are generated when pressing these keys.
Distributions Affected:
Ubuntu 24.04
Debian (latest stable)
Kubuntu 24.04
Arch Linux (latest release)
System Information:
Input Method: InScript Hindi (set through system settings)
Issue observed across multiple applications (LibreOffice, Gedit, etc.)
Additional Information:
This issue seems to be related to incomplete key mapping in InScript for Linux, potentially due to a bug in ibus or m17n. It has been noted by other users on various forums as well.
Please advise on a resolution or if any patches are available to address this issue.
