is bleachbit only one of many file-shredding programs?

I wanted to install bleachbit on my distro, but for a while couldn't remember what the program was called. I looked up "file shredding programs" and such search terms. Bleachbit was never mentioned, which I found interesting once I remembered the name and downloaded it. Is that just because there are numerous file-shredding programs and bleachbit doesn't "stand out in the crowd"? I just use it because it's the one I know.
