Thanksgiving Day parades march through New York and Chicago – video

Thousands of people ventured out in the rain to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade , with beloved floats, including Minnie Mouse and Sponge Bob, sailing down the parade route. The 98th annual parade, televised nationwide, is part of the tradition of the US Thanksgiving Day holiday, a spectacle of giant balloons of cartoon characters, marching bands and popular music acts performing live. Similar events took place in Chicago, where an array of floats, marching bands and cultural performers marched down State Street.
