Vikings not pursuing Aaron Rodgers, opening door for Giants and Steelers: report

As the Aaron Rodgers offseason saga drags on, the Vikings have made it clear their plan is to turn to J.J. McCarthy as their starter this season, and are "not pursuing" Rodgers "at this time," reports Tom Pelissero.
A report by The Athletic on Saturday noted that Rodgers was "hoping" to sign with the Vikings.
On Sunday, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that the Giants and Steelers remained firmly in the mix for Rodgers.
I'm told from sources that Rodgers does have standing offers from the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants," Fowler reported on SportsCenter. I checked with the source from one of those teams about a timeline for Rodgers. I got back a text with the Webster's dictionary of the word enigma, and so that's kind of the feeling right now.
"Teams are waiting this out, waiting on Rodgers. The feeling is there's not just a money consideration here. There's fit, there's surroundings, all those things. Minnesota Vikings are sort of on the periphery here. Sources there tell me that it's possible they get involved with Rodgers, but the feeling this week has been probably not. They want to developJ.J. McCarthy."
With the Vikings seemingly out on Rodgers, that would theoretically mean his options are now the Giants, Steelers, or retirement.
Rodgers remains a major quarterback domino.
Fellow Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson is reportedly "ready to sign" with a team following meetings with the Giants and Cleveland Browns (while a return to the Steelers remains an option), but teams appear to be waiting on Rodgers' decision before moving in any other direction.
Meanwhile, the Giants reportedly met with Jameis Winston earlier this week.
