Tyron Smith, who played 2024 season with Jets, to retire from NFL

Tyron Smith, who will eventually end up in Canton as Hall-of-Famer, has decided to call it a career.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Smith, who played for the Jets in 2024, will sign a one-day contract and retire as a member of the Dallas Cowboys, the organization for which he played the first 13 years of his illustrious career.
A five-time All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowler, Smith was drafted ninth overall by the Cowboys in the 2011 NFL Draft and quickly established himself as the premier left tackle in the game.
A member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-2010's Team, Smith signed a one-year deal with the Jets last offseason to play what we now know is his final season. While he battled through some injury issues, Smith played 10 games for the Jets in 2024, protecting Aaron Rodgers' blindside.
This news probably doesn't come as much of a surprise to the Jets, as the team is prepared to have 2024 first-round pick Olu Fashanu be their starting left tackle. Fashanu played in 15 games last season, making seven starts while filing in for Smith and right tackle Morgan Moses.
