NFL.com: Membou plays with composed quickness and elite body control. He delivers good pop on contact and has the range to spring runs with blocks in space. Footwork and core strength fuel stick-block sustain, but he can be outreached by edge-setters. His pass sets are technically sound, and he processes twists and blitzes quickly. Hands and feet work in unison to mirror speed and edge-to-edge rush challenges. He's still growing into his frame but his game boasts unusual maturity. Membou's potential impact at a premium position should keep him at tackle, but he has outstanding potential regardless.
Bleacher Report: Membou is a young prospect who is a loose, explosive mover with a dense, powerful build, good length, and a rugged demeanor that allows him to match up on an island in pass protection and deliver body blows as a finisher. There are rough edges with his aiming points and hands that lead to penetration and falling off of blocks that will need to get cleaned up. Still, his physical tools, pass protection skills and demeanor signal a year one starter with the runway to become an impact player at tackle or guard.
Why Membou makes sense for the JetsOut of all the draft prospects credibly linked to the Jets in the first round, Membou is arguably the best fit from a need-based perspective. New York has four returning starters on the offensive line but none of their current right tackle options inspire much confidence, so selecting someone who played his entire college career at right tackle could be a perfect way to address the need at that position.
It's not as simple as that, though, as the Jets will also need to consider whether Membou is worthy of being selected ahead of some of the other high-upside prospects likely to be available. Prior to the scouting combine, Membou was widely regarded as a top-20 pick, but not necessarily worthy of being selected in the top 10. That changed after an impressive workout that showcased his athleticism and strength.
Analysts acknowledge, however, that Membou will need to continue to work on his consistency and technique to handle NFL defenders. There's also the question of his less-than-ideal height and length, which has prompted some analysts to predict he might ultimately fare better at guard.
If the Jets select Membou and hand him a starting role at the right tackle position, he may take a while to find his feet at the NFL level, leaving New York potentially worse off in the short term than they would be by opting to have a replacement-level veteran starting there.
However, if he develops quickly and starts to live up to his potential, Membou's combination of size, speed, and athleticism could help to upgrade the running game overnight. And his pass protection numbers from last season are cause for optimism that he'll be able to hold his own in pass protection.
With guards Alijah Vera-Tucker and John Simpson both free agents at the end of the season, it's not impossible that the Jets could consider moving Membou inside in 2026, should one of them leave. However, in an ideal world, drafting him would bring the team a potentially strong starting five, which could benefit from tremendous chemistry and cohesiveness if they were to seek to keep the group together for a few more years.
