Jets sign K Harrison Mevis to active roster, waive K Anders Carlson

The Jets are shaking things up at kicker.

The team announced on Wednesday morning that they have signed Harrison Mevis, who worked out with the team last week.

While the 23-year-old has never seen NFL regular-season action -- he signed with the Carolina Panthers in May 2024 and was waived in August -- he appeared on the league's radar this spring by posting impressive numbers in the UFL with the Birmingham Stallions.

Mevis was one of the UFL's top kickers in 2025. He made 20 of 21 total field goal attempts, with his longest from 54 yards, and also averaged 64.9 yards on kickoff attempts. His lone miss was on a 63-yard attempt.

Listed at 5-foot-11 and 243 pounds, Mevis has been given the nickname "Thiccer Kicker."

In a corresponding and somewhat surprising move, fellow kicker Anders Carlson has been released. Carlson kicked in five games for the Jets last season, going 8-of-10 in field goal attempts.

Mevis and undrafted free agent Caden Davis, who hit 24-of-29 field goals during his final season at Ole Miss, as the only kickers on the roster, with the Jets searching for answers to replace veteran Greg Zuerlein, who was released in May.
