You'd think that we would have gaming controllers figured out by now, but they just keep adding more features to these things. Extra buttons, more durable sticks, even fancy lights-there are plenty of upgrades out there, but they usually come at a pretty steep cost. Not so with the 8Bitdo Ultimate 2 Controller. This thing costs less than the most basic Xbox controller Microsoft offers, and yet comes with more bells and whistles than arguably even the top-of-the-line Xbox Elite Controller Series 2. What's even better is that, for Prime Day, it's now even cheaper.

Get Deal $47.99 $59.99 Save $12.00 I have this controller's predecessor, and the crown jewel here is easily the included charging dock. You usually have to pay a good bit extra for one of those, but this handy little cradle comes bundled with the Ultimate 2 and makes it easy to store and always keep its battery topped off. The other big sell is the TMR joysticks, which is a new technology that makes stick drift near impossible, ensuring this controller will keep working like new long into the future. There are also back paddles and Hall Effect triggers that let you change when they actuate. Or, newly added to this version of the device, you can flick a switch to turn one or both of your triggers into instant, digital presses-perfect for shooter fans.
Throw in gyro support, the extra bumper buttons, full button remapping via free software, nifty lighting effects around the sticks, and support for both Bluetooth and a dongle connection (the dongle is included), and I don't know what else you could ask for. The only catch is that this controller won't work on consoles (there are 8Bitdo controllers that do, but they aren't on sale right now, and some come with compromises). If you play on PC or Android, though, this is easily the best controller you can get right now.
That said, if you want to go even cheaper, you can get the budget 8Bitdo Ultimate 2C, which is currently just $24. This gets rid of the lighting, back paddles, charging dock, and option to turn your triggers into instant presses, but is still a good choice if you don't need every feature the Ultimate 2 has to offer.
