Wide receiver Jauan Jennings reportedly wants a new 49ers contract or trade originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

Jauan Jennings isn't happy with his current 49ers contract.

The wide receiver wants a new deal or he wants to be traded, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday, citing sources.

49ers WR Jauan Jennings, who is scheduled to make $7.5 million this season in the final year of his deal, wants a new contract or a trade, per sources.

Per Schefter, Jennings already has approached the 49ers regarding his contract situation, but little progress has been made."

Schefter also reports that if Jennings doesn't have a new deal by the time 49ers veterans report to training camp next Tuesday, the four-year NFL veteran will request a trade.

Just over a year ago, a then-restricted free agent Jennings signed a two-year, $15.4 million contract through the upcoming 2025 NFL season with the 49ers. The deal included $10.5 million in guaranteed money.

The 28-year-old is scheduled to make a base salary of $1.17 million during the 2025 season, per Spotrac and Over The Cap.

Jennings had been the 49ers' No. 3 wide receiver during his first three NFL seasons, but he had a breakout 2024, catching a career-high 77 passes for 975 yards, with six touchdown receptions.

And Jennings' 2025 role should be similar to last year, with Deebo Samuel gone and Brandon Aiyuk recovering from ACL surgery.

Jennings and second-year wide receiver Ricky Pearsall are expected to be quarterback Brock Purdy's top two options until Aiyuk returns.

As NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco wrote at the end of May, Jennings should be one of the 49ers at the front of the line for a new contract.

One agent who represents NFL wide receivers told Maiocco that Jennings could net a contract that pays him anywhere between $11 million and $15 million per season.

So Jennings wants to be rewarded by the 49ers for what he means to the team, and if they are unwilling to do so, he wants to find a team that will compensate him appropriately.
