15 Eagles veterans on roster bubble as 2025 training camp nears

15 Eagles veterans on roster bubble as 2025 training camp nears originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia
As the Eagles start off training camp with their 90-man roster, they have a ton of talent. But they're going to need to trim that roster to 53 before the season.
There will definitely be some tough decisions ahead of the Aug. 26 cut deadline and some talented players won't make the team.
Here are 15 veterans on the roster bubble as training camp nears:
DT Thomas Booker IV: Booker last season played in all 21 games and started one and gave the Eagles some good snaps, especially early in the year. He was their fifth defensive tackle behind Jalen Carter, Milton Williams, Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo and he could be their fifth again this year. Williams is gone but the Eagles drafted Ty Robinson in the fourth round.
TE Harrison Bryant: For a while it looked like Dallas Goedert wasn't going to be back for 2025 but he returned for this season, as did Grant Calcaterra. That means there's a numbers crunch at tight end. Bryant had a really quiet year with the Raiders in 2024. From 2020-2022, he averaged 25 catches and 237 yards per season with the Browns.
S Lewis Cine: The former first-round pick joined the Eagles late last season but he's fighting for a roster spot and could get beat out by former UDFA Andre' Sam for the final safety position on the team. Cine was the 32nd overall pick out of Georgia in 2022 but suffered an awful leg injury as a rookie and has played just 11 games in his three-year NFL career.
RB A.J. Dillon: The veteran running back joined the Eagles on a one-year deal this offseason after missing the entire 2024 season with a neck injury. While Dillon said he's healthy and practiced this spring, we'll have to see what he can do in training camp. In his first four seasons, Dillon was productive for the Packers with over 2,400 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. He also has the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. He could be a solid backup behind Saquon Barkley (and maybe Will Shipley) if his health isn't a concern.
TE Kylen Granson: Another veteran tight end with the Eagles on a one-year deal, Granson spent his first four NFL seasons with the Colts, getting there as a fourth-round pick just after Nick Sirianni and Kevin Patullo left in 2021. His most productive season came in 2023, when he had 30 catches for 368 yards and a touchdown. But Granson is better known for his blocking, which could give him an advantage in that position battle.
OL Kenyon Green: The Eagles got the former first-round pick as part of the return from the Texans in the C.J. Gardner-Johnson trade but he's not a lock to make their roster. Green was the No. 15 overall pick out of Texas A&M back in 2022 but has struggled in his NFL career. During the spring, he was working with the third-team offensive line.
OLB Patrick Johnson: The Eagles kept Johnson on their initial 53-man roster last summer. But when they needed a roster spot after Week 1, they cut Johnson and tried to sneak him through to the practice squad. He was claimed by the Giants and ended up playing in 12 games for them last season, mostly on special teams. While Johnson is an outside linebacker, he hasn't played significant defensive snaps since early in his career but he has been a really good special teamer.
OL Darian Kinnard: The veteran offensive lineman has won the Super Bowl the last three years - in 2022 and 2023 with the Chiefs and with the Eagles in 2024. Kinnard made the Eagles' roster out of camp last summer and was on the team all year. He played just 71 offensive snaps in 2024 but the Eagles must like him because they never tried to sneak him through to the practice squad for a roster spot. But they did draft three Day 3 linemen in the spring.
OT Kendall Lamm: This will be Lamm's 11th season in the NFL and he has 119 games and 44 starts under his belt. Just last year, he played in 15 games and started 7 for the Dolphins before his season ended with a back injury that needed surgery. He was back on the practice field this spring and could be the Eagles' swing tackle in 2025, but his spot isn't guaranteed.
WR Terrace Marshall: The former Panthers' second-round pick had a solid spring and seems positioned to compete for a roster spot in training camp. The Panthers drafted Marshall 59th overall in 2021. His best season came in 2022 when he had 28 catches for 490 yards and a touchdown. In his one season with the Raiders last year, Marshall had just 3 catches for 41 yards.
OL Matt Pryor: The Eagles' 2018 draft pick returned this offseason on a one-year deal after spending time with the Colts, 49ers and Bears. In 2024, he became the Bears' starting right guard and played well with 17 games and 15 starts. He worked with the second team at right guard this spring and appears to be Tyler Steen's top competition for that position.
CB Eli Ricks: The Eagles obviously like Ricks because he's been on the roster now for two years as an undrafted player out of Alabama. But in 2024, he got pushed down the depth chart and played in just 7 games and logged just 14 defensive snaps. He's still just 23 and the Eagles don't like to toss aside talented young cornerbacks but he'll again need to earn his roster spot.
QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson: The Eagles got DTR back in the Kenny Pickett trade this offseason. And it looked like he was going to be their third quarterback this season, but then the Eagles drafted Kyle McCord in the sixth round out of Syracuse. In a limited viewing window this spring, McCord simply looked better and it seems like he's going to win that job. But there's a long way to go.
OLB Josh Uche: The 26-year-old is entering his sixth NFL season in 2025 and seemed to make a positive impression on his teammates this spring. But he'll still need to fight for a spot on the roster and in the rotation behind Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt and Azeez Ojulari. Uche's best season came in 2022 when he had 11 1/2 sacks but he has just 9 in his other four years combined.
FB Ben VanSumeren: The former linebacker is now a full-time fullback this season and even switched his number from 57 to 43. The Eagles began using BVS as a fullback last year until his season-ending knee injury in November. VanSumeren was back on the practice field this spring and will have a shot to make the team as a fullback/core special teamer.
