Jets head coach Aaron Glenn announces starters will play in preseason opener against Packers

TheJets will take the field in Green Bay on Saturday night for the first preseason game of the Aaron Glenn era, and the first-year head coach made it clear that his starters will indeed play.
We're playing, we're playing," Glenn said on Thursday. I can't tell you how much guys are going to play. That's affected by how the game goes, but we're playing."
And the reasoning?
Because I want to play," said Glenn. That's the reason."
With the NFL preseason now down to three games for each team, some coaches elect to sit their starters for the first game, while some teams' starters barely play at all in the entire preseason.
But it certainly makes sense for Glenn to want to see his projected starters play and make it feel as close to a regular season game as possible. After all, the Jets have an entirely new coaching staff, including the play-callers on both sides of the ball, and a new starting quarterback in Justin Fields.
If Fields leads the offense on a successful first drive capped off with a touchdown, perhaps that's all we see of the Gang Green offensive starters. But if things look sloppy, there's a chance the starters stick around a bit longer.
On the defensive side of the ball, it's a good chance to see the starters in Glenn's scheme go up against Jordan Love and a talented Packers offense, as Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur made It sound like his healthy starters will see playing time as well.
