Sauce Gardner held out of Jets-Giants joint practice due to calf soreness

Coming into this week's pair of joint practices between the Jets and Giants, cornerback Sauce Gardner going up against wide receiver Malik Nabers figured to be one of the most anticipated matchups.
But Nabers ended up missing both days due to lingering toe issues, and on Wednesday Gardner was also down with what head coach Aaron Glenn described as calf soreness.
The extent of Gardner's injury is not currently known.
"We'll continue to evaluate him and see where he's at," Glenn said.
Gardner played 12 snaps in the Jets' preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers, breaking up a pair of passes and recording one tackle.
The No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Gardner inked a massive four-year, $120.4 million extension in July,
"I want to be the best. That's not just this season, but that's in general. My legacy when I leave," Gardner said after signing his new deal. "I want to win games. We have the players, the coaches. We have everything that it takes to win games and win a lot of games. That's my main thing. My individual accolades, those are going to come with us winning games."
