Giants' Malik Nabers dealing with 'minor' back issue: report

Giants star receiverMalik Nabershas been a notable absence at training camp for the last week and a half, and we now know why.

Nabers, originally thought to still be dealing with a lingering toe injury, is experiencing a 'minor back issue' that a source described to ESPN's Jordan Raanan as 'minor camp tightness."

Nabers has not played in either of the Giants' pair of preseason games and has not been on the practice field since he left early on Aug. 6.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll, as he is with all player injuries, has been mum on what exactly what's keeping Nabers, who had a monster rookie season in 2024 with 109 catches for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns, off of the field.

The former No. 6 overall pickhas said that he's still experiencing pain from a lingering toe issue that dates back to his days at LSU, and that while surgery has been discussed, it's "never been a complete thought."

The Giants will have two joint practices with New England this week before hosting the Patriots in Thursday night's preseason finale. It remains to be seen whether or not Nabers will play in that game, though it's logical to think the Giants will continue to take the cautious route with their up-and-coming superstar.
