The Jetswill be without one of their top pass rushers Sunday when they take on the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay and look to avoid an 0-3 start.

Jermaine Johnson (ankle) was ruled out for the Week 3 matchup after not practicing Wednesday or Thursday, head coach Aaron Glenn announced Friday.

The 26-year-old left New York's Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills in the second quarter and did not return to the game. Glenn confirmed Johnson suffered a left ankle sprain, not an injury to his right side where he had Achilles surgery.

He played just 32 snaps in the loss, compared to 50 snaps against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1. Overall, Johnson has made two solo tackles and five assisted tackles, plus one pass defended, so far this season.

Three other Jets will miss their second straight games: WR Josh Reynolds (hamstring), DL Jay Tufele (illness), and RB Kene Nwangwu.

Safety Tony Adams, who was originally designated as questionable with a hip injury on Friday, was downgraded to out Saturday afternoon. Rookie safety Malachi Moore is expected to get the start against the Bucs on Sunday.

Reynolds made two receptions on three targets for 18 yards against the Steelers in his first game with Gang Green. The 30-year-old has bounced around with five other teams during his nine-year NFL career, playing parts of the 2024 season in Denver and Jacksonville.

Tufele recorded two solo tackles and one assisted tackle against Pittsburgh. Glenn wouldn't get into details about the illness, but said they "expect him back real soon." Micheal Clemons, who has struggled with penalties, including a late hit on Bills QB Josh Allen, will need to step up in place of Johnson and Tufele.

Nwangwu has seen limited action as the fourth-string RB, returning a kickoff for 33 yards in Week 1 and playing a total of three snaps on special teams.
